Volcano Noun Worksheet With Extension
Uh-Oh! Someone's science experiment didn't work out the way it was supposed to! On another sheet of paper, write a story about this picture. Underline all the nouns. On the next page are instructions for making your own volcano.
Make a Volcano
- Make a volcano with parent permission. You can make one from salt dough using:
Six cups of flour, two cups of salt, enough water to make a firm dough (about 2 cups), and four tablespoons of vegetable oil. Let it dry completely. You may need a day or two for this. Be sure to make a nice hole in the top and, if you choose, put some kind of container inside, like a bottle (keep the volcano materials out of the container.)
- Put the volcano outside, because this is messy. Don't wear good clothes.
- Place about a tablespoon of baking soda into the container. Next add a cup of vinegar. (You can color it with food coloring if you like, but it might stain your clothes.)
- Get out of the way!
- Read about volcanoes and also research to find out why this works.
