Volcano Noun Worksheet With Extension

Uh-Oh! Someone's science experiment didn't work out the way it was supposed to! On another sheet of paper, write a story about this picture. Underline all the nouns. On the next page are instructions for making your own volcano.

Volcano science experiment makes a mess

Make a Volcano

  1. Make a volcano with parent permission. You can make one from salt dough using:

Six cups of flour, two cups of salt, enough water to make a firm dough (about 2 cups), and four tablespoons of vegetable oil. Let it dry completely. You may need a day or two for this. Be sure to make a nice hole in the top and, if you choose, put some kind of container inside, like a bottle (keep the volcano materials out of the container.)

  1. Put the volcano outside, because this is messy. Don't wear good clothes.
  2. Place about a tablespoon of baking soda into the container. Next add a cup of vinegar. (You can color it with food coloring if you like, but it might stain your clothes.)
  3. Get out of the way!
  4. Read about volcanoes and also research to find out why this works.
